The Mallala Museum held an exhibition of wedding gowns from their collection during History Month May 2018. The event called "Down the Aisle - Wedding dresses through the years" featured 19 gowns displayed throughout the museum.

Gwen Dow of Barabba South Australia wore the pretty floor length sky blue lace and net gown when she was an attendant for her friend Genie Shackley. The marriage to Hedley Hancock took place in the Balaklava Methodist church S.A. on 16th May 1953. Also on display was the blue feather head piece plus the blue short net mittens worn by Gwen. A most attractive outfit.
